Avon Obesity Service is a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals committed to the care of people who are obese and struggling with their weight.
We specialise in the assessment, operation and post-operative support of people undergoing obesity surgery (such as gastric banding) to assist their weight loss.
The team have set up a dedicated service in the private sector at the Spire Hospital (formerly known as BUPA Hospital), Bristol, where they take referrals from throughout the South West and from the whole of the United Kingdom. The team also run a regional NHS weight loss service at Southmead Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust taking patients from across the South West, Midlands, and South and South West Wales.

Free Weight loss surgery information evening - Tuesday 16th June 2009
Come and meet the experts and discuss your options at this free information evening.
Spire Bristol Hospital (The Glen) and the Avon Obesity Service are hosting another free weight-loss surgery information evening at the hospital on Tuesday 16th June from 7.15pm.
Informal presentations and advice from our dedicated weight loss team including consultant surgeons Mr Justin Morgan and Miss Sally Norton will be available. Nurse counsellor Sharon Bates, dietician Lynn Sawyer and Consultant Physician Dr Andrew Johnson will be on hand to answer any questions that you may have. You will also be able to meet some previous patients.
The evening will include a question and answer session with our weightloss team and the opportunity to speak with our consultants and former patients on an individual basis. Places are limited so please reserve your place(s) by using our contact us page or by calling 0117 9804080.
